The PIAA Board of Directors tabled its vote on a second-reading basis for a shot clock in high school basketball at its meeting in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday.
TribLIVE’s Chris Harlan was the first to report the news. It wasn’t announced when the reading will be revisited.
In July, the PIAA went against the basketball steering committee’s recommendation of no shot clock implementation by a 22-9 vote. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Harlan said the board wanted feedback from the committee ahead of Wednesday’s reading but hadn’t received any.
The shot clock still needs to pass two readings to officially be greenlit. Wednesday’s previously scheduled reading needed three votes to reach the final stage.
With the proper votes, the shot clock will make its appearance during the 2028-29 season.
