The Cleveland Cavaliers got bad news Monday, but it’s not the worst case scenario. Donovan Mitchell did aggravate an ankle injury during the team’s 129-109 loss in Game 4 vs. the Indiana Pacers, but it’s possible he will play in Game 5.

Mitchell is considered a game-time decision ahead of Game 5 on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Mitchell left Sunday’s contest while warming up for the second half. While taking shots on the court, Mitchell appeared to tweak his ankle. He did not play in the second half due to the injury, finishing the contest with 12 points.

After the game, Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson said Mitchell would undergo an MRI on Monday.

Mitchell has been the Cavaliers’ best contributor during its series with the Pacers. Through four games, he’s averaging 34 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. He dropped 43 points in the Cavaliers’ Game 3 over the Pacers.

Injuries have defined the series. The Cavaliers were without Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter during a Game 2 loss, during which Mitchell scored 48 points in 35 minutes. The trio returned for Game 3, helping Mitchell lead the Cavaliers to a win.

Despite Mitchell’s production, the Cavaliers trail the series 3-1. If Mitchell is able to return for Tuesday’s game, he’ll be playing to keep the Cavaliers’ season alive.
