Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been mostly sticking to his adopted city of Boston this offseason compared to summers past. But the Georgia native did make a recent trip to his home state to visit his former high and middle schools, sharing some words of wisdom at his alma mater Lilburn Middle School in particular.
Hoping to impart the sort of habits in the students of his former school, Brown spoke to the student body in a special event held in his honor in the month of August. “I just want to remind you…that you…can do anything that you set your mind to,” said the Cal alum via the Gwinnett County Public Schools website.
“Anything in the world that you want to accomplish, you can do it,” added Brown. “I went to the same school, and I’ve been able to travel all over the world.”
“I’ve been able to do a lot of amazing things, and that journey, that journey started right here at Lilburn Middle,” continued the Celtics star. “I believe in you, I know you’re going to do great things, and I’m so happy that I could come back and see you.”
“Faith, consistency, and hard work are the keys to success,” suggested Brown, referring to his favorite maxim. And given what he has already accomplished on and off the court before he’s even turned 30, it’s fair to say the Lilburn Middle School alumnus has a point.
