KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Jordan Ivy-Curry finished his career at UCF with his best performance wearing the black and gold.
He scored a season-high 29 points against Nebraska in the title game of The Crown championship postseason game in April.
Ivy-Curry was one of over 80 players to try out this week for the Osceola Magic, the Orlando Magic’s G-League affiliate.

“I’ve always been the underdog,” Ivy-Curry said. “I’ve played against a lot of great competition. I played in the Big 12, and I’m still getting under-looked.”
The point guard transferred from UTSA, which plays in the American Athletic Conference, to Big 12 team UCF, which was a big jump in competition.
Ivy-Curry started in 25 games and averaged 13 points for the Knights.
Despite having a good season, he must prove himself — again.
“It’s amazing. Coming from where I’m coming from, not a lot of people get to make it to this level, to this point,” Ivy-Curry said after the workout. “I’m just grateful to try out in front of a lot of good players and good coaches.”
He isn’t afraid of the competition, especially after playing under UCF coach Johnny Dawkins. Dawkins was a leader at Duke from 1982 to 1986 and played in the NBA for nine seasons.
“Every single day it was a fight having to go against Dior [Johnson], Mikey [Williams], Darius Johnson, Jaylin Sellers, Keyshawn Hall every day,” Ivy-Curry said. “Coming to work out like this in the G-League, it’s going to be scrappy. It’s going to be a dogfight. Coach Dawk, he installed that in all of us, anybody that played. That’s his program.”
Ivy-Curry has no problem putting in the work. His hard work has helped him so far, and he said he hopes it will pave the way for an NBA career.
