With players ramping up their activity before the season, Denver Nuggets center DaRon Holmes II was among the players seen working out at the practice facility on Thursday.
Holmes was spotted along with Christian Braun, Bruce Brown, Cam Johnson, Zeke Nnaji and Julian Strawther, among others. The players went through various on-court drills and other shooting exercises in preparation for the start of training camp on Sept. 30.
The 23-year-old Holmes has had a busy offseason after completing his rehabilitation from a torn Achilles tendon sustained last year in summer league. He has been in the gym with his teammates several times and appears ready for his first year in the league.
Holmes was a consensus second-team All-American at Dayton during the 2023-24 season, averaging 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks on 38.6% shooting from 3-point range as a junior. He was also the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
The 22nd pick in the 2024 NBA draft made four appearances in summer league, averaging 13 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one steal on 42.1% shooting from 3-point range. He registered two double-doubles, including a 19-point, 17-rebound performance on July 17.
Holmes was commended for the way he approached his rehab while maintaining a high spirit. He looks ready to make his official debut and is excited to take the court with the Nuggets.
