Former UCLA guard Kobe Johnson will reportedly sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Atlanta Hawks, according to Lauren L. Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Johnson was a Big Ten All-Defensive team selection last season, averaging 7.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals on 36.2% shooting from 3-point range as a senior. He ranked 19th in the country in defensive box plus-minus (plus-5.0).

The 22-year-old established himself as a three-time all-conference defensive team selection after playing three seasons at USC before joining the Bruins. He was considered one of the top defenders in the country and developed into a consistent 3-point shooter.

Johnson logged four appearances with the Hawks in the NBA Summer League after going undrafted, averaging nine points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 steals and one assist. He finished off his stay with a 14-point, six-rebound effort on July 20.

The 6-foot-5 standout will spend next season in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks as part of his Exhibit 10 contract. He can receive a bonus of up to $85,300 if he is waived and stays with the Skyhawks for at least 60 consecutive days.

After four years in college, Johnson will make the jump to Atlanta. He will have the opportunity to develop his overall skill set and ability in training camp and during the regular season in the G League.
