In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 16 players, per Sportrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 13 under standard contracts and the three players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2025-26 season. Of course, there is a certain restricted free agent that will be included as well.

The new season begins on Oct. 22, and training camp is right around the corner. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.

Up next in this series is big man Dominick Barlow who the Sixers signed to a two-way deal earlier in the offseason. The New Jersey native spent the 2024-25 season with the Atlanta Hawks after two years with the San Antonio Spurs and has career averages of 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 96 games with the two franchises.

For Barlow, his three goals are as follows:

Provide a rebounding presence

Barlow was a jumping jack in the summer league as he averaged 7.0 rebounds in the two games he was able to play in. Rebounding has been a bit of a sore spot for the Sixers at times and Barlow, who’s listed at 6-foot-9 doesn’t exactly offer much in the way of size, but he does offer up a ton of energy, athletic ability, and he can make an impact in this area. While he will likely spend time in the G League, the Sixers would likely want to see him up at the NBA level at some point.

Push the veterans in camp

When training camp opens, Barlow should have his eyes on pushing Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid. He has young, fresh legs, and he plays like a jumping jack. Therefore, the big man should make a name for himself in camp and give those two a run for their money. He had a few good moments in the summer league that shows he can score with some efficiency, can run the floor, and was able to be a real presence under the basket on both ends. If he can have a strong showing in camp, the coaching staff would eventually like to have him up with the Sixers.

Expand the range

Barlow began showing off a 3-point shot a bit while with the Hawks and it continued in the summer league with the Sixers. One has to wonder if that is something that could be tapped into so if Barlow can continue to expand his range, then it once again opens the door for him to take on a role in the near future. Especially, when considering the Sixers will be looking to get a bit younger in terms of the supporting cast on this roster. Anything Barlow can bring to the table will do wonders for his case to earn court time.
