The Brooklyn Nets have made it through the 2025 NBA offseason having made some interesting trades as the team gears up for a 2025-26 season that could be tough to watch. Brooklyn acquired forward Michael Porter Jr. from the Denver Nuggets while being unable to sign guard Cam Thomas to a long-term contract, but there could be other players for the Nets to pursue.

“League sources say Knicks have begun to weigh various trade scenarios to provide needed distance from 2nd apron in the event they wish to keep both Landry Shamet & Malcolm Brogdon,” NBA insider Jake Fischer wrote Friday for “The Stein Line” Substack while discussing the New York Knicks. How this relates to the Nets is the fact that they are still the only team in the league with cap space that could help the Knicks with their finances.

“One of the few possibilities that could be easily executed is parting with Pacome Dadiet,” Fischer continued. While the Nets’ interest in Dadiet is unknown at this point given that there hasn’t been any reporting regarding other players that Brooklyn could be targeting, it should be noted that New York will have to do something if they are going to get under the second apron after signing Landry Shamet and Malcolm Brogdon.

“This could logjam incoming second-year guard Tyler Kolek behind the group of veteran ball handlers,” ClutchPoints’ Kris Pursiainen wrote on Monday. “Moving Kolek could afford the 24-year-old opportunity that he would not get in New York. At least one opposing team has demonstrated interest in Kolek this offseason, ClutchPoints also learned.”

As of this writing, the Nets will be going into training camp with 23 players on the roster, assuming that forwards Grant Nelson, Ricky Council IV, and Fanbo Zeng will officially be signed to training camp deals at some point. Brooklyn still has one Two-Way spot left, but the Nets would still have to cut at least five players if they are going to meet the roster limit of 18 by the start of the regular season.

Dadiet, 20, is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 1.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game while shooting 32.3% from the field and 31.6% from three-point land in 18 games played. Kolek, 24, finished last season with averages 2.0 points and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 32.9% from the floor and 29.8% from deep in 41 appearances.
