New Orleans Pelicans rookie Jeremiah Fears was among the players seen working out at the practice facility on Friday, in photos posted by the team on social media.

Fears was joined by fellow first-year players Derik Queen and Micah Peavy during the session. They went through various resistance training exercises and other on-court shooting drills in preparation for the start of training camp on Sept. 24.

With the team convening in less than two weeks, several players have started ramping up their activity in New Orleans. The group will play two exhibition games in Australia against the Melbourne United (Oct. 3) and SE Melbourne Phoenix (Oct. 4).

Fears debuted with the Pelicans in the NBA Summer League, averaging 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals on 40% shooting from the field in five appearances. The seventh pick finished off his stay in the desert with a 22-point, seven-rebound effort on July 18.

Queen, the 13th pick, averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds, 2.3 assists and one block on 43.8% shooting from the field in three appearances. He is expected to miss the start of the season after undergoing surgery to address a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist on July 18.

Peavy totaled 13 points, nine rebounds and five steals in two summer league games. He signed a four-year, $8.7 million contract after the team selected him with the 40th pick.
