IOWA CITY — Class of 2026 wing Ethan Harris has committed to Iowa basketball, he announced Sept. 13.
Harris is a four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite, and ranks 94th nationally in the 2026 high school class. A product of Camas, Washington, Harris is listed at 6-foot-9 and 200 pounds. He is the top player in the state of Washington’s senior class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Harris’ top four schools consisted of Iowa, Washington, Gonzaga and Boise State. But the Hawkeyes won out in the end.
Scouting Ethan Harris
Owen Alles of Pro Insight wrote the following about Harris:
A versatile four star wing in the class of 2026 who does a bit of everything when he is on the floor, Ethan Harris is an eyebrow raising prospect in terms of his ability to slot into any type of system and contribute. Offensively, Harris is a multifaceted threat. He stretches the floor well with a consistent and reliable jumper, can create off the dribble for himself in spurts, and is an excellent skip passer who annihilates double teams by spraying out to shooters in the corners. He also makes his presence felt on the offensive glass, where he is a huge plus flying in from the wing. Despite Harris’s offensive talent he may be an even better defender. Perfectly comfortable switching 1-4, even handling some 5s, Harris is adept at sliding his feet on the perimeter and knows how to use his size and length to his advantage against smaller and quicker players. Harris also has great helpside instincts, nailing the timing on when to rotate over, and his block rate is high because of it. Overall, Harris is a player who can help a team in a variety of ways, and is someone I can see contributing right away at the next level in one way or another.

Colby Giacubeno of 247Sports wrote the following about Harris:
…hybrid F Ethan Harris is one of my favorite prospects that I’ve seen this summer. Positional size, a textbook jumper & a competitive edge that is very rare in today’s game. Disruptive in passing lanes defensively, competes on the glass, etc. Kid is gonna help a college program win a ton of games.
Here are some highlights of Harris:
Ben McCollum continues momentum on recruiting trail
Harris is the second four-star high school prospect that new Iowa head coach Ben McCollum has landed since taking the job with the Hawkeyes.
Trey Thompson, a four-star prospect, was originally in the 2026 class, but reclassified and is with the Iowa program for the upcoming season. It marked a significant win for the program to get a prospect of Thompson’s regard, given that he earned offers from programs such as Purdue, Kansas and Alabama.
And now, by landing Harris, Iowa continues to make a splash in high school recruiting. Gonzaga was one of Harris’ suitors, a program firmly in the national picture under head coach Mark Few. Not to mention another Big Ten program like Washington, which presented an opportunity much closer to Harris’ home than Iowa.
Harris is currently the lone member of Iowa’s 2026 high school recruiting class.
