The basketball community is heartbroken this week after losing a beloved personality in Tiana Mangakahia.
Mangakahia competed in the South East Australian Basketball League and Women’s National Basketball League before committing to Syracuse University in 2017. She had an excellent college career, averaging 15.8 points and 8.7 assists per game. Her production earned her All-ACC honors in 2018 and 2019.

Although she went undrafted in 2021, Mangakahia spent her rookie training camp with the Phoenix Mercury. She then returned to Australia and suited up for the Northside Wizards.
In 2023, Mangakahia announced her retirement from pro basketball because she was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Unfortunately, she passed away this Thursday at the young age of 30.
