This offseason, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks has been a major talking point across the NBA. For the first time in his career, reports suggested that the superstar was open to considering a change. Yet instead of dwelling on speculation, Giannis shifted his energy and focus entirely to representing Greece in EuroBasket 2025.

That commitment paid off in spectacular fashion on Sunday as Giannis led Greece to a hard-fought 92-89 victory over Finland and secured the bronze medal. With the bronze medal secured, Giannis also had the perfect opportunity to address recent criticism from Alperen Sengun.

Sengun remarked that Giannis he is “not a good passer.” In the post-game press conference, Giannis decided to break his silence.

“I’m a guy that I don’t like to talk a lot. You know, I let my game talk. I’m going into my 13th season in the NBA. I’ve won everything. Everything. And this was the thing that I had in one, and I won. You know, I have an incredible family. I think I have incredible people that support me every single day. And I love to carry myself that way,” Giannis said.

Antetokounmpo then went on to directly challenge Sengun’s remarks. The Bucks star claimed that words don’t matter compared to results.

“It doesn’t really matter because at the end of the day, you won’t remember what they say. You will remember how I respond. So I keep everything to myself. You can go and check mine. How do you say, coach? Go check my YouTube. Go see my clips on YouTube. And then come back and ask me if I’m a good passer,” he added.

In the postgame press conference, Giannis also took a moment to reflect on the broader meaning of his success. Beyond silencing critics, he stressed the importance of inspiring future athletes.

“Being able to inspire the next generation the way they inspired us. It’s the biggest thing ever. There’s a kid right now watching the TV that’s going to believe that one day he can win a medal with the national team the same way I believed,” he said.

Antetokounmpo’s words carried even more weight given his outstanding performance in the game. Giannis delivered 30 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, and two steals, shooting 9-for-11 from the field.
