It’s horrible luck for the Utah Jazz not to jump into the top four of the draft. The consolation for Jazz fans is that they secured the #5 pick, which they worked hard for this season. Utah has had multiple seasons now where they saw themselves picking later in the top 10. Now they get a top-5 pick to work with and will recalibrate the team as they go into next season.
The Utah Jazz will likely seek a top-8 pick next year because that’s the only way they can keep their pick without giving it to Oklahoma City.
All that said, it’s a tough pill to swallow for a long season for the Utah Jazz. We’ll see if Utah makes any moves this offseason to build for a run or if they are more interested in trying for top talent in the draft.
