Just a few yards from the old Hemisfair Arena stands a new pavilion-style basketball court dedicated to Red Combs and his family.
The $1.8 million court and adjacent infrastructure in downtown San Antonio was unveiled on Monday, a project funded by Spurs Give and the McCombs Foundation.
Red McCombs was one of a group of people who brought the Spurs franchise to San Antonio; the team played its first game on October 10th, 1973.
The Spurs hosted the dedication of the Red and Charline McCombs Community Court at midday on Monday at its location under the Tower of the Americas, topped at center court with a new Spurs-McCombs logo
The Hemisfair organization built the arena and will maintain it, under the current agreement.
The team also announced that Media Day will take place on Monday, September 29th.
