INDIANAPOLIS — The stars of the Indianapolis sports scene were out at Lucas Oil on Sunday for the Colts’ 29-28 win over the Broncos, a victory that gives Indianapolis a 2-0 start for the first time since 2009.
Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton watched the game from Pat McAfee’s suite, which has been full for the first two games after a few absences late last season.
Indiana forward Obi Toppin banged the anvil, a significant amount of the rest of the Pacers roster was also at Lucas Oil Stadium, and Indy 500 champion Alex Palou was shown on the scoreboard after winning the IndyCar championship for the fourth time in 2025.
Even the Fever got involved. Indiana dropped its first playoff game at the same time as the Colts kicked off against Denver, but Fever superstar Caitlin Clark wrote “Jonathan Taylor is like that. … Big win for the Colts!” on her X account after the game.

“I think it’s awesome,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said. “Any time all the professional sports can support each other through their certain seasons, come out and show that support and cheer on the other teams, I think it’s huge.”
Steichen has been a big part of the camaraderie.
The Colts head coach has been a frequent fan at Pacers games since taking over in Indianapolis, joining a list of coaches and players that often includes Reggie Wayne, Kenny Moore II, Zaire Franklin and a bunch of other Colts players in the stands at Gainbridge.
Moore, in particular, has built relationships with IndyCar, making frequent appearances at the Speedway throughout his Colts career.
“I think the players love it, the fans love it,” Steichen said. “It’s a lot of camaraderie back and forth. It’s vice versa with us cheering on the Pacers and Fever. To have them come out and support us, it means a lot.”
