The season’s last Grand Slam might have concluded, but the fans still have a lot to hold on to. Last season, Berlin, the heart of Europe, experienced immense attention as Carlos Alcaraz took down Taylor Fritz to secure a 13-11 comeback victory for Team Europe. Defending the title since 2022, Team USA had to let go of the Laver Cup trophy thanks to dominant efforts from Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, and others.

Amid brewing excitement for this year’s event, the tournament organisers took things to a different level by setting the stage in a legendary venue this time. Here’s everything to know about it.

Laver Cup to Set the Stage in Golden State Warriors’ Home

The 2025 Laver Cup is scheduled for September 19-21 at San Francisco’s Chase Center, marking the first time the event will be held on the U.S. West Coast. This state-of-the-art arena, opened in 2019, is renowned for its modern design and prime location in the Mission Bay neighborhood.

The venue offers an intimate atmosphere with a seating capacity 18,000, ensuring an up-close experience for tennis fans. Chase Center is the home of the Golden State Warriors and has been the site of numerous significant events since its opening. In 2022, the Warriors celebrated their seventh NBA championship at the arena.

The venue has also hosted the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, generating over $328 million for the Bay Area. Notable NBA stars such as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have showcased their talents here, contributing to the Warriors’ success and the arena’s reputation as a premier sports and entertainment destination.

Former USTA Davis Cup captain Randy Walker shared a short glimpse of the venue in preparation on X. Teasing the location to the fans, he wrote:

“The @LaverCup set-up looking sharp at the Chase Center in San Francisco in advance of this weekend’s competition.”

The 2025 edition of the Laver Cup will see Yannick Noah take over as Team Europe captain, succeeding Björn Borg, with Tim Henman serving as vice-captain. Meanwhile, Andre Agassi replaces John McEnroe as Team World captain, with Patrick Rafter as vice-captain.

What Are the Line Up Changes in Team World Ahead of the Laver Cup?

Frances Tiafoe has been a cornerstone of Team World since his debut at the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague in 2017. Over the years, he has amassed a 6-5 win-loss record in the event. His most notable contribution came in 2022 when he clinched Team World’s first-ever Laver Cup title by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling singles match.

However, the American pro decided not to participate in this year’s line-up, giving Alex de Minaur a chance to be in.

“It’s an honour to join Captain Agassi and Team World in San Francisco next week. My first Laver Cup back in 2022 in London was an incredible experience, and I will be ready to give it everything I’ve got to help the team lift the Laver Cup at Chase Center,” the Aussie said.

He also clinched his first title of the season in July by triumphing at the ATP 500 event in Washington, underscoring his rising consistency and strong form throughout the year.
