It was another disappointing season for the Phoenix Suns as they failed to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
Of course, Phoenix had lofty expectations entering the season due to their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, along with having the NBA’s highest payroll.

Instead, the Suns finished 11th in the Western Conference with an abysmal 36-46 record, missing out on the Play-In Tournament by three games behind the Dallas Mavericks.

With their poor season, the Suns now have some key decisions to make this summer which first includes finding a new head coach after firing Mike Budenholzer.
Phoenix is also expected to move on from both Durant and Beal and rebuild their roster around Booker.
While the Suns have some key decisions to make this summer, one of them will not involve a lottery pick in the 2025 draft as they have conveyed their pick to the Houston Rockets.
Of course, the pick was originally traded to the Brooklyn Nets in the trade that landed Durant in Phoenix but the Rockets acquired in a trade last summer.

This was a great move by Houston as they now own the 10th pick in next month’s draft after finishing second in the West standings this season.
For the Suns, this is a massive blow after their terrible season but the good news for Phoenix is that they do still own a first-round pick.

Phoenix owns the Cleveland Cavaliers’ first-round pick in the 2025 draft which will be the 29th overall selection. The Suns also own the 52nd pick that was originally owned by the Denver Nuggets.
Despite this, the loss of their own lottery pick is a massive one for Phoenix as their future is now in question due to their struggles last season, but that could change if they end up trading Durant this summer.
