Lifting weights and playing basketball, it looks like Jalen Williams has updated all of us through his social media. The NBA champion recently made an Instagram post that showed he finally shed his right wrist brace after having it on for most of the offseason.
The Oklahoma City Thunder wouldn’t have captured the Larry O’Brien trophy without Williams. As most know by now, he played through their entire playoff run with a torn wrist ligament he sustained in April 2025. He battled through the pain and took pain-numbing shots every day for two months to stay available.

This makes Williams’ 40-point outburst in Game 5 of the 2025 NBA Finals even more legendary. The win swung the series over to OKC’s favor. To know the 24-year-old did that with that high-stakes pressure while also playing with a compromised shooting hand is the type of mythos that stays on the Thunder forever.
Williams underwent wrist surgery on July 1. The Thunder announced he’d be re-evaluated in 12 weeks. That’s around now, which means getting rid of the brace shouldn’t be too surprising. He also said on social media that he’s good to go with playing basketball.
That means Williams should be ready by the 2025-26 Opening Night. The Thunder will host the Houston Rockets on Oct. 21. The NBA champion will see their banner dropped and rings handed out.
