The Brooklyn Nets have spent this entire offseason revamping a roster that finished the 2024-25 NBA season with a 26-56 record that gave them the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. One of the moves that Brooklyn made this summer was waiving forward Tosan Evbuomwan, but it looks like the forward wasn’t available for long as he caught on with a rival.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley on Tuesday, Evbuomwan has agreed to a Two-Way contract with the New York Knicks prior to the beginning of the team’s training camp later this month. Begley noted that the initial reporting was that Evbuomwan signed with the team on an Exhibit 10 deal, meaning that he would have been signed with the intent of competing in training camp for an actual roster spot.
The Nets announced on Aug. 29 that they had waived Evbuomwan as the team was looking to solidify the roster ahead of training camp beginning next week as the roster is getting more full by the day. Since Brooklyn waived Evbuomwan, they have signed forward EJ Liddell to a Two-Way deal, re-signed center Day’Ron Sharpe, guard Cam Thomas, and forward Ziaire Williams, and traded for Atlanta Hawks guard Kobe Bufkin.
The Nets have one Two-Way spot left to sign a player with, but with the team currently at 21 players heading into training camp, it seems that Brooklyn is looking to convert one of those players into a Two-Way. Evbuomwan, 24, came to Brooklyn last season after being waived by the Detroit Pistons and Los Angeles Clippers following stints on Two-Way contracts for both clubs.
Evbuomwan played in 28 games for the Nets last season and averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field and 31.2% from three-point land. Evbuomwan had some bright moments for the Nets last season as he scored in double figures in 13 of his 28 appearances, including when he dropped 22 points and five rebounds in an overtime loss to the Utah Jazz.
Forward Tosan Evbuomwan was waived by the Nets in August after spending half of the 2024-25 NBA season with Brooklyn. Evbuomwan had some solid moments with the Nets as he scored in double-figures in 13 of his 28 games with the team. https://t.co/53ccJAFTYF
