Tyrese Haliburton called back a famous moment from Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks history in Game 1 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals.

Spike Lee’s response? Thanks a lot.

The Pacers star and Knicks superfan sit together for an episode of the “Old Man and the Three” podcast set for a Sept. 18 release, and Lee playfully chastises Haliburton for mimicking Reggie Miller‘s choke sign from the 1994 playoffs.

“To this day, people come up to Reggie and I, and say, ‘Do we hate each other?’ How many years ago was that? A long time! Me and Reggie squashed that (expletive). It’s been squashed,” Lee said.

Lee then holds up a framed sketch of Miller flashing the choke sign toward Lee, prompting laughter from Haliburton.

“But you brought this (expletive) back! We had that thing squashed, man! It was dead! You brought it to life!”

Haliburton’s only defense: “It was because Reggie was in the building,” announcing on TNT.

That brought a laugh from Lee.

Miller first flashed the choke sign in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals after a 3-pointer that was part of his 25-point fourth quarter in an Indiana win.

Haliburton broke out the choke sign at the end of regulation of Game 1 of the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals as the Pacers recovered from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to send the game to overtime. Indiana won on the way to the NBA Finals.
