NEW YORK – Garrison Mathews has signed with the NBA’s New York Knicks, the team announced Tuesday.

Mathews, a Franklin High School graduate and former Lipscomb legend, inked an Exhibit 10 contract with the Knicks after playing in 47 games with the Atlanta Hawks this past season. The contract is a one-year, league-minimum deal that offers a slight bonus if Mathews – if not invited to the NBA club – spends time with the team’s G-League affiliate.

Mathews is known for his 3-point prowess and placed fourth among qualified shooters in 3-point success rate with Atlanta last season sinking 1.8 triples per game.

Mathews averaged 7.5 points on 39% shooting from beyond the arc with 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.7 minutes in 2023-24. He recorded a season-best 25 points in a December win over Minnesota matching a career-best by hitting seven 3-pointers.

Mathews, 28, played four years at Lipscomb scoring a Division I-era best 2,478 points before joining the Washington Wizards in 2019-20.

The six-year NBA veteran has also played with the Houston Rockets with 314 games played, including 64 starts. He was a two-sport standout at Franklin High playing basketball and football.
