The Brooklyn Nets did not make the playoffs this season as they finished the regular season with a 26-56 record during the first season of a full-scale rebuild. Despite the season ending in disappointing fashion, Brooklyn will be able to make up for that in Monday’s NBA Draft Lottery if they are able to win the entire event and gain the right to draft Duke forward Cooper Flagg.

When it comes to the Lottery, the Nets do not have much experience with the event as the last time they won the whole thing, it was in 2000 when the franchise was still in New Jersey. With that pick, the Nets selected Kenyon Martin Sr. out of Cincinnati and he went on to play four seasons with the Nets before moving on to play for other teams like the Denver Nuggets.

The last time that the Nets were the beneficiary of a Lottery pick was in 2010, again while the organization was still located in New Jersey, and they selected forward Derrick Favors out of Georgia Tech. With all of that being said, the Nets have the opportunity of a lifetime as they could have the chance to draft a difference-maker so here are the live updates from the event:

The Nets, and Nets fans alike, didn’t have to wait long to find out their fate that they would be picking eighth overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. Brooklyn had a 9.0% chance of winning the entire Lottery and a 37.2% chance of landing a pick inside the top-4.

At the same time, the Nets had a 29.7% chance of landing the seventh overall pick and a 20.6% chance of landing the eighth overall pick. The odds were not on their side coming into the event, but there was hope that Brooklyn could win the event and have the chance of drafting Flagg to turbocharge their rebuild following the breakup of the Big 3.

At the moment, the teams with the worst and 2nd-worst records in the NBA didn’t win the Lottery. https://t.co/mfSP9oBkgN

Nets fans already knew coming into the event that head coach Jordi Fernandez would be representing the franchise at the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, but it’s another thing to see the Spaniard dressed at the event looking his best. Brooklyn was hoping that Fernandez would bring the team luck after showing that he was the right man for the job during the 2024-25 season.

The Lottery did not go the way that Nets fans were hoping as they would take the sixth overall pick over the eighth overall pick. However, Brooklyn wasn’t the only team to not have the event go in its favor as the Utah Jazz (team with the worst record in the league) and Washington Wizards (second-worst record) wound up with the fifth and sixth overall picks, respectively.

The Lottery came and went in a matter of about an half-hour so if you weren’t able to tune in to ESPN at 7:00 PM Et, here is the entire Lottery from start to finish:
