As the injury update of Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro recently hit the NBA world, the organization has now added a bit of clarity to the All-Star’s return to the lineup.
The Heat official social media team announced all the details of Herro’s successful surgery to treat his injured left food, as the news of his injured ankle suffered in an offseason workout was originally reported earlier.
INJURY UPDATE: Tyler Herro underwent successful surgery today to alleviate posterior impingement syndrome in his left ankle. Herro is expected to miss around eight weeks. The 90-minute procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas San Giovanni and assisted by HEAT team physicians Dr. Harlan Selesnick and Dr. Frantz Lerebours at Doctors Hospital Surgery Center in Miami.

The biggest takeaway from the Herro update comes with his recovery time— which is said to be around eight weeks.
That timeline puts Herro back in the Heat lineup around mid-November, thus delaying his season debut with about 15 missed regular season games. Miami plays their 14th game of the 2025-26 campaign at home against the New York Knicks on Monday, November 17. That would be the beginning of exactly eight weeks since his surgery.
Keep in mind, any significant injury that requires surgery like this will not be taken lightly in terms of Herro’s return to game action. He will need to properly rehabilitate, get back into game shape and trust the process to make a full recovery.
If that November 17 game gives a rough estimate, the safer bet would be for him officially be ready for his season debut by November 19th when the Heat host Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors.
Absolute latest, November 23rd on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers could also be a target if Miami goes with the more patient approach.
Herro seems to be in good spirits after the surgery, posting to his Instagram story a photo of him in the hospital bed with the caption: “Imma tear the league back down once I get off this weak a*s bed.”
