ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The Atlanta Hawks’ YouTube series is joining a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Georgia native’s media company.
On Tuesday, the team announced that the show, “Hawks AF (And Friends)” will be joining Shay Shay Media, the digital media company recently founded by the sports analyst Shannon Sharpe.
The announcement was also made by “Hawks AF” host, comedian, entertainer and Atlanta native D.C. Young Fly on Monday night’s episode of “Nightcap with Unc and Ocho,” a YouTube show hosted by Sharpe and former National Football League star wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
“As a Georgia native, I’ve seen firsthand how Atlanta has grown into a hub for sports, music and entertainment,” Sharpe said. “Credit to the Hawks for capturing that cultural dialogue with ‘Hawks AF’. We look forward to working with D.C. Young Fly and the Atlanta Hawks organization to bring their phenomenal content to an even wider audience.”
“Hawks AF” launched last November as a sit-down show featuring notable names in Atlanta sports, entertainment and music. It was created by the organization’s marketing and creative teams, and all episodes have been shot and produced by their in-house production agency, Hawks Studios.
The show joins the media company’s growing network of content, which includes other shows like “Nightcap” and “Club 520,” which features former Hawks star point guard Jeff Teague. According to the Hawks, Shay Shay Media has more than 10 million followers and generated more than 10 billion YouTube impressions last year.
“Shay Shay Media is the perfect partner to amplify ‘Hawks AF,‘” Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Proctor said. “‘Club Shay Shay’ and Shannon Sharpe have authentically blended the worlds of sports, entertainment and music with real storytelling. With D.C. as our host, we are doing something similar in ‘Hawks AF’ but with a ‘True to Atlanta’ vibe.”
The new episode of “Hawks AF” is live on YouTube.
