After spending nine seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns left the team on October 2, 2024, when he joined the New York Knicks in a three-team trade. Although he played only one season with the Knicks, he is getting major praise from his teammates.
After playing just one season with Towns, Knicks star Jalen Brunson believes that Towns is incomparable. During a recent interview, Brunson praised Towns, saying he can’t compare him to anyone else.
“Don’t think you can compare him. He shoots the ball so effortlessly, and he can make plays. He has great touch around the rim, so he’s pretty much his own person,” Brunson said. “He picks different games of styles of basketball, and kind of makes it into his own.”
Despite spending a long time in Minnesota, Towns quickly adjusted to his new team. During a recent interview, he revealed the details of his epic welcome to New York moment after the blockbuster trade.

Towns made intense efforts for the Knicks in the 2024-25 NBA season. He averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 72 games. This strong contribution helped the Knicks to finish the regular season in 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference standings with a 51-31 record.
Towns maintained the dominance in the playoffs, too. The team eliminated the Detroit Pistons in round 1 and the Boston Celtics in the conference semifinals. However, their dominance fell short in the conference finals series against the Indiana Pacers. In a recent interview, Brunson spoke about why he’s happy to have Towns as a teammate.
“He’s been phenomenal for us, in the locker room has been great. On the court, he’s been great. The things that he’s been able to do in a short period of time being a Knick has been amazing. Having him as a teammate has been really fun. I think that gets overlooked how good of a teammate he is. Obviously, he’s a great player and what he does on the court. But the teammate he is and what he brings to the locker room for us is special. So I’m really happy to have him,” Brunson said.
Towns played 18 games in the 2025 playoffs and averaged 21.4 points, 1.3 assists and 11.6 rebounds per game.
