PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR/CNN NEWSOURCE/WKRC) – A man has turned himself in to authorities following an alleged assault at a basketball game. The incident occurred during Isaiah Fuller’s “Taft for the People Tour” event held at the John Hope Settlement House in Providence.

“It’s just very unfortunate for everybody that was at my event and for that to happen, truly sorry,” said Fuller.

According to police, Christopher Cherry, 37, punched Fuller in the face after Fuller’s team made a comeback to win the game. He also charged at the referee and allegedly swung a knife that was in his hand. Although no one was physically injured, the referee involved in the altercation remains shaken and declined to comment.

Cherry made a brief court appearance where the judge set his bond at $2,500.

Fuller, who has gained a significant following on social media, continues his tour with a focus on spreading joy and positivity. He remains committed to his mission of supporting young athletes, saying, “I feel like being I’m in the basketball industry and basketball world, there’s very few young men that’s willing to help these young generational athletes, keeping these kids off the streets, giving these kids platforms.”
