Jake Paul outclasses Chavez Jr., fight night recap and highlights
Jake Paul scored a dominant unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the Honda Center in Anaheim, improving his pro record to 12-1.
From one NBA arena to the next, the exhibition fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis bounces along.
The exhibition is scheduled for Nov. 14 at Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat, according to Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), co-founded by Paul and business partner Nakisa Bidarian. Paul and Bidarian are listed as promoters for the fight.
The fight was originally scheduled to be held in Atlanta at State Farm Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks. But, facing opposition from a top boxing official in Georgia, MVP announced Sept. 17 that it had found a new home.
Kaseya Center has a capacity of about 20,000 and a memorable history. In 2012 and 2013, LeBron James helped the Heat clinch the NBA Finals titles in their own building. Shaquille O’Neal was part of the Heat’s NBA Finals-clinching party at the arena in 2006.
With the NBA title banners hanging from the rafters, the boxing ring is expected to be set up atop the Pat Riley Court at Kaseya Center, named after the Heat’s team president and former head coach.
You might remember the multipurpose venue as American Airlines Arena, which was its name from the opening of the building in 1999 until 2021. Then it was FTX Arena, cryptocurrency exchange crashed, as did the deal between FTX and the arena. Kaseya, a global provider of IT management solutions, signed a 17-year naming rights deal with the arena in 2023.

Why did Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis relocate to Miami?
Rick Thompson, the chairman of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, said he was adamantly opposed to the fight. He cited the weight disparity between Paul and Davis as a key factor.
The GAEC, which regulates boxing in Georgia, was scheduled to vote on a request submitted by MVP that was vital to hold the fight. But with Thompson showing no sign of relenting, MVP secured a date with Kaseya Center in Miami.
Jake Paul returns to Miami
In 2020, Jake Paul launched his pro boxing career with a first-round TKO against YouTuber Ali Eson Gib at the Meridian at Island Gardens.
Now Paul is 12-1 with 7 KOs, with his only loss coming in 2023 against Tommy Fury in a split decision. And he’s become a regular presence in Florida.
He has promoted 10 boxing events and four of them took place in Florida, according to BoxRec.com. Four of his fights, including his pro debut, took place in Florida and he was listed as a promoter in all of them except the Miami fight.
Timothy Shipman, the executive director of the Florida Athletic Commission, said the fight will be an exhibition.
