In this new series, Sixers Wire looks at the 16 players, per Sportrac, that comprise the Philadelphia 76ers roster — 13 under standard contracts and the three players on two-way deals — and gives each three goals for the 2025-26 season.
The new season begins on Oct. 22, and training camp is right around the corner. Now is the time to begin previewing the new season of adventure that is Sixers basketball.

Up next in this series is veteran forward Kelly Oubre Jr. who is set for year 11 in the league. While his name has popped up in trade rumors, he is on this roster at the moment and the Sixers expect him to continue being a versatile option for them on either end. He averaged 15.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in the 2024-25 season.
For Oubre, his three goals are as follows:
Continue being consistent and versatile
In his two seasons in Philadelphia thus far, Oubre is averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds along with 1.3 steals. He has been a reliable piece for coach Nick Nurse on a nightly basis and he fills a lot of different roles whether he’s starting, coming off the bench, needing to space the floor, or needing to take on the opposition’s best defender, he stays ready. That’s the best aspect Oubre brings to the table. Along with his scoring ability, he can do so many different things on the floor which makes him a valuable piece.

Get his 3-point shot back to respectability
Oubre is a career 32.5% shooter from deep which isn’t anything great, but it’s better than the 29.3% he shot in the 2024-25 season. One can point to the injuries he was dealing with for the reason why his 3-point shot was off, but the veteran out of Kansas can still stand to improve greatly in that area of his game. If he can get his 3-point percentage up around 34%, it would be a huge help to this roster and give the Sixers another floor spacer whether Oubre is in the starting lineup or coming off the bench.
Continue being a mentor
Oubre has always been a guy willing to help younger players in this league. His voce has been an important one in the locker room in an effort to help them grow and take steps in their early NBA careers. He has been important for younger guys like Justin Edwards, for example, and giving him pointers. If he does stick around for the 2025-26 season, then he has to continue being that mentor for these younger guys on this roster and help push them forward.
