Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most fashionable players in the NBA today. He constantly displays one of the best tunnel fits in the league and has also walked the runway at big events like Paris Fashion Week and the MET Gala.

During a recent appearance on Nardwuar’s YouTube Show, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked what he does with all his outfits. The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar revealed he sells them to his teammates every year.

“I do like a garage sale at the beginning of every season for the past couple of years,” he said. “Yep, literally SGA’s garage sale. And they come and buy clothes. And I don’t charge them too much, keep the prices low. “

He makes sure no one gets left behind

Gilgeous-Alexander has always been known as a good teammate. He refuses to take sole credit for his team’s success on the court, even if he is their best player and top contributor.

After being named league MVP, he made sure his Thunder teammates celebrated the occasion too by giving each of them a bag of goodies containing iPhones, Beats by Dre headphones, a custom Canada Goose jacket and Rolex watches. When he won the Finals MVP award, he credited his co-star Jalen Williams, saying the MVP is as much Williams’ as it was his.

Off the court, Gilgeous-Alexander does not want his teammates to get left behind. He wants them to look as good as he does when TV cameras capture them in the fashion tunnel on their way to arenas. So, not only does he help them acquire designer clothing cheaply via garage sales, but he also shares his fashion sense with them.

“I don’t want to sound like … they’re like, those are my kids in terms of fashion,”said Shai of his teammates. “I show them what to do and what not to do.”

King of NBA fashion

And just as they listen to him on the court, the Thunder players listen when Gilgeous-Alexander speaks fashion. And why not? He was named the 2025 NBA Michelob Style of the Year for best outfits, and he is also widely considered the league’s current fashion king.

“Shai is acknowledged pretty widely as the reigning king of NBA style,”said Wall Street Journal reporter Sam Schube, former GQ’s sports director. “He’s the guy who’s really picked up the mantle from LeBron James, Allen Iverson, Dwyane Wade and Russ. He’s the next dude. … Shai’s sort of his own world. It doesn’t really feel like he’s playing the same game as everybody else.”

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged a career-high 6.4 assists per game last season for the Thunder. But he wasn’t only passing the ball to his teammates. He was also passing on his designer clothes to them and assisting with fashion advice. That’s why he’ll always be their MVP — on and off the court.
