There were plenty of happy people around the Dallas area Monday night. That includes Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison.

The Mavericks ended a streak of dreadful lottery luck Monday, claiming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft. With the top pick, the team has a shot at landing Duke superstar Cooper Flagg.

The development comes just a few months after the team traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Harrison was a key figure in the move, drawing the ire of fans as the Mavericks’ season ended short of a playoff run.
