It is hard to picture Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander playing for any other team. However, some who enjoy stirring things up will keep doing so, as demonstrated by Canadian media personality Nardwuar’s recent efforts to get SGA to discuss his home team.
Shai was raised in Canada, therefore the Toronto Raptors were the only team he could support. He did, at least for a while. When he joined the NBA in 2018, he played for the Los Angeles Clippers. In 2019, he was traded to Oklahoma City, where he made history by winning the MVP award, the championship, and the Finals MVP the previous season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gets checked about Raptors rumors
Nardwuar continued to uncover links between Shai and the Raptors, starting with an account of his very first NBA game in Toronto. The Canadian was then shown a single by Master P, another former baller who played for the Raptors and is now considered a music hero. Lastly, he mentioned Hakeem Olajuwon, who, shockingly, spent a year playing in Toronto.
Knowing what Nardwuar was attempting to do, Shai interrupted and begged him to stop.
Shai said: “You’re gonna get me into trouble, so you gotta slow down with this Raptors stuff,”
The Thunder were on the 27-year-old’s mind. His excessive enthusiasm in the Raptors and his gushing about them would not sit well with franchise fans. Furthermore, as far as we are aware, Shai has no plans to move anyplace.
