BANGOR, Maine — The Maine Sports Hall of Fame inducted ten new members today, with former University of Maine Women’s Basketball captain Kelly Bowman-Flagg among the honorees. Bowman-Flagg played a pivotal role in leading the Black Bears to three consecutive conference championships and captained the 1999 team that famously upset Stanford in the NCAA Tournament.
Bowman-Flagg’s basketball prowess was evident early on during her time at Nokomis High School, where she scored over 1,200 career points.
The induction comes during a notable year for the Flagg family. Her son, Cooper, is set to begin his professional basketball career with the Dallas Mavericks after being selected as the number one pick in the draft. Meanwhile, Cooper’s twin brother, Ace, is preparing to start his freshman season with the University of Maine.
Today, however, was a day to celebrate Kelly Bowman-Flagg’s achievements. A full list of the inductees is available on WGME.com.
