The Rockford alum tore his ACL and will likely miss the upcoming year, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
VanVleet went undrafted in 2016 and started his career with the Toronto Raptors. In 2019, he helped the team win its first NBA Championship.
He signed with Houston in 2023 after eight seasons in Toronto. He agreed to a two-year $50 million extension with the team in June. Last season he started in 60 games, averaging more than 14 points and 35 minutes a game.
One month later, he was elected president of the National Basketball Players Association.
