EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan State men’s basketball has kicked off its preparation for the upcoming season, holding its first official practice of the 2025-26 schedule on Monday.
Naismith Hall-of-Famer Tom Izzo enters his 31st season as the Spartans’ head coach after capturing his 11th regular-season Big Ten Championship and 27th-straight tournament appearance last year, falling just one win shy of his ninth Final Four appearance.
Izzo announced the Spartans have four team captains this year: senior forward Jaxon Kohler, senior center Carson Cooper, redshirt sophomore guard Jeremy Fears Jr., and junior forward Coen Carr.
This year’s roster includes many new faces, who MSU fans can meet at the annual “Michigan State Madness” event on Oct. 3.
The Spartans’ first exhibition game is set for Oct. 23 at the Breslin Center vs. Bowling Green.
