The Washington Wizards unveiled their City Edition uniform for the 2025-26 season Monday, featuring a black and gold design that pays homage to the team’s alternate jerseys from 2006-2009.
The Wizards will debut the “Encore” uniform Nov. 16 when they host the Brooklyn Nets at Capital One Arena. The design combines elements from the team’s popular gold alternates from the mid-2000s with styling from their 2021 Mixtape Edition jerseys.
“Uniforms using the gold and black colorway [have] been a request from the fans as well as players since the City Edition concept debuted years ago,” said Rebecca Winn, senior vice president of Wizards marketing. The team’s black City Edition uniform from 2018 sparked renewed interest in the color scheme, she said.
The uniform features “Washington” across the chest in the team’s standard font, anchored by a silhouette of the Washington Monument. Black stripes outline the neckline, shoulders and jersey numbers, creating contrast against the gold base. The design includes reimagined striping across the shoulders and chest that echoes the original 2006-2009 alternates.
The shorts include black side panels and waistbands with gold interior detailing. A revamped Wizards ball logo appears on the belt buckle. The “DMV” insignia on the left side represents the District, Maryland and Virginia — marking the first time “DMV” has appeared on a D.C. area sports team’s uniform. The D.C. hands logo appears in white with gold outline on the right side.
The team will wear the Encore uniform 29 times during the 2025-26 season and will use a matching City Edition court for those games.
Jerseys go on sale Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at shopwashwizards.com and the Capital One Arena Team Store. Additional merchandise includes hoodies, T-shirts and hats in the black and gold color scheme.
The team plans City Edition-themed giveaways throughout the season, including a Kyshawn George bobblehead Jan. 2 against Brooklyn, an AJ Johnson-designed hat Feb. 3 against the New York Knicks, a replica 2006-09 jersey March 5 against the Utah Jazz and a fan appreciation T-shirt April 10 against the Miami Heat.
The uniform was created in partnership with Nike and the NBA, with Robinhood as presenting sponsor.
