Giannis Antetokounmpo Names Hall of Famer He Wants to Train With
Antetokounmpo said he wants to train with Carmelo Anthony, the master of the jab step and one of the smoothest jumpers the league has ever seen, currently ranked 10th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
While New York Knicks officials debate whether to retire his No. 7 jersey, Anthony holds the franchise’s single-game scoring record of 62 points against Charlotte in 2014.
Antetokounmpo says he would love to work with him.

The Greek superstar gave his reasons why in an interview with Greek media outlet Sport 24, much of it stemming from not wishing to give away any competitive advantage: “I don’t like working with players who are playing right now. I want to work with young guys and with LeBron, for example. I could work with LeBron, but he’s still playing. I’ll see him in a month or two, and he’ll be my opponent.”
“I like working with players who are retired,” he added. “I think the next one is Carmelo Anthony. If I could work with Carmelo Anthony, I would love to.”
During the interview, he revealed the aspects of Anthony’s game he appreciated: “For the mid-range, for the face jump, his game was very effortless, very easy, very relaxing.”
Anthony’s mastery of the jab step and mid-range jumper, combined with elite athleticism and creative dribble moves early in his Denver Nuggets career, made him one of the NBA’s most lethal scorers. He was recently inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. If he helps Giannis refine his jumper, opponents are in for a nightmare.
