The Denver Nuggets are back in a best-of-three series for the second straight round as they gave up home-court advantage in a Game 4 loss against the Thunder on Sunday. Both teams shot poorly in Sunday’s slugfest as they were coming off a minimal amount of rest, but the Thunder used a strong charge in the fourth quarter to comeback and take victory from the hands of the Nuggets.
Nikola Jokic struggled once again on Sunday, as he shot under 40% from the field for the third consecutive game. He finally made a 3-pointer after missing 13 in a row, but his poor shooting performance once again slowed down Denver’s offense. The Thunder have thrown the entire kitchen sink at the three-time MVP after he went for over 40 points and 20 rebounds in Game 1, and it has worked to their advantage.
The Nuggets only made one 3-pointer in the first and fourth quarter combined on Sunday in an outlier performance that would be hard to replicate. The eight points they scored in the first quarter set a new franchise record for the least amount of points in a playoff quarter. This team showed their ability to rebound from a tough loss before in this series, and will have to do so again to avoid facing elimination.

Odds for Game 5 of Nuggets-Thunder
Spread/Total: Nuggets +10.5, 221
Moneyline: Nuggets +380, Thunder -490
Nikola Jokic to record a triple-double: +165
Jokic’s odds to put up a triple double are the longest they’ve been in these playoffs, as he hasn’t recorded one since Game 5 of the Clippers series in the first round. While he has been hitting the point and rebound thresholds in almost every game, he has failed to put up 10 assists in a while as the Thunder have played some stifling defense on him and the Nuggets so far this series.

Injury notes/report for Game 5 of Nuggets-Thunder
Nuggets
Michael Porter Jr. still continues to battle the shoulder sprain he suffered in Game 2 of the opening round, and it seemed to be bothering him at times on Monday as he played one of his poorest games of the postseason. Despite the pain, he’s not listed on the injury report.
Hunter Tyson, despite not playing any non-garbage time minutes, is listed as out with an ankle injury he suffered before Game 4.
As always, DaRon Holmes II is listed on Denver’s injury report, as the rookie is still rehabbing the Achilles tendon he tore back in the NBA Summer League.
Thunder
The Thunder injury report is about as clean as can be. The only player who is out for the No. 1 seed is Nikola Topic, who is rehabbing from a torn ACL.

What to watch for in Game 5 of Nuggets-Thunder
The non-Jamal Murray minutes. The talk with the Nuggets is always about what happens when Nikola Jokic goes off the floor, but the key in these playoffs has been the limited minutes in which Jamal Murray has spent on the Nuggets bench.
In the 459 minutes he has been on the floor in the postseason so far, Denver has had a net rating of 2.37 with an offensive rating of 117.21, per PBP Stats. In the 79 minutes that he has spent on the bench, the team’s net rating has dropped to -35.3 with a lousy offensive rating of 84.24. He is also a +28 in those 459 minutes, while the team is a -69 in the 79 minutes without him.
While he hasn’t shot over 50% from the floor yet in this series, his presence as a ball handler and a shot creator is needed out there for the Nuggets to win games. Game 3, in which he had 27 points on 9-for-19 shooting from the floor, showed that even if he doesn’t shoot 50% from the field, he can still be the X-factor for the Nuggets, especially when Jokic isn’t playing up to his usual standard.
