Kevon Looney’s time with the Golden State Warriors ended after 10 seasons. Looney was one of the core members of the Warriors’ success during their championship runs. He recently signed a two-year deal with the New Orlando Pelicans and revealed why he exited the Warriors.
Last season, Looney averaged 4.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks in 15 minutes per game. Head coach Steve Kerr gave more playing time to younger players like Trayce Jackson Davis, which limited his time on the court. Despite his reduced role, Kevon Looney remained valued for his rebounding and leadership.
In his recent media appearance, Looney talked about his experience of playing Uncs. “I played with real Uncs… Shout out to Andre Igoudala, he was about 45 when he played with me… In an NBA locker room, Unc is about 34-35,” he reflected.
Kevon Looney now joins the Pelicans, where he will bring experience and depth to a young team hoping to make the playoffs. With a promising roster and alongside Zion Williamson, his toughness and leadership will now help guide the Pelicans in a tough Western Conference.
