INGRAM, Texas — The San Antonio Spurs and San Antonio FC united with over 30 other sports organizations in Ingram on Sunday to bring joy and healing to those impacted by the tragic Hill Country floods.

Over 2,000 students and 250 volunteers gathered at Ingram Tom Moore High School for the Sports for Healing Fest, which offered local students and families the chance to participate in free sports clinics, receive mental health counseling and engage with their favorite Texas sports teams. The day aimed to create positive memories and aid communities’ healing journey months out from the July 4 floods.

Students of all ages had the chance to spend the day immersed in sports clinics led by youth coaches from teams including the Spurs, Houston Rockets, LOVB and Texas Rangers. Former Spurs, Rockets and Mavericks player Avery Johnson appeared at the event, along with team mascots and cheer squads.

This was the latest initiative from the Texas Sport Healing Fund, which Spurs Sports & Entertainment launched with over 40 professional sports teams shortly after the floods. The fund previously donated a collective $2.1 million from the NBA, NBA Players Association, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks to contribute to relief efforts.

“The past months have been humbling to our organization as we’ve gone into the community and witnessed firsthand the lasting impact of a disaster like this,” said RC Buford, Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO. “Our players, coaches and staff across our businesses have been touched by the community’s willingness to welcome us into their neighborhoods and homes with open arms and share their stories with us. While our hearts break for those affected, we hope there is some small comfort in knowing our organization is fully behind them, every step of the way, as they continue to restore and repair their community.”
