Just three months after winning an NBA championship, the Oklahoma City Thunder will soon start their first day of school. General manager Sam Presti will conduct his 2025-26 preseason press conference on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. CT.
The annual multi-hour event is the unofficial start to the upcoming NBA season. Presti will reflect on OKC’s first Larry O’Brien trophy and discuss expectations for the 2025-26 season. The Thunder are widely viewed as the consensus title favorite. They will run it back with mostly the same roster.

After they brought home the NBA championship, the Thunder quickly did their offseason homework. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren all signed contract extensions to stay in OKC for the foreseeable future. That should keep them in the title picture for the rest of the decade.
It’ll be interesting to hear what Presti has to say about OKC’s reigning championship. This will be the first time the Thunder enter a season on the golden throne. There will surely be unique challenges that come with that, as the rest of the league will throw their best punch against them on a game-to-game basis.

The Thunder will host their 2025-26 Media Day on Monday, Sept. 29. They will then kick off their training camp. OKC will open its preseason slate when it faces the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, Oct. 5. It will host Opening Night against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
