Desmond Bane has become one of the most exciting players to watch entering the new NBA season.

Desmond Bane joined the Orlando Magic in one of the most expensive recent trades, costing the franchise four first-round picks for his services.

Bane’s arrival creates optimism that the Magic have completed their roster construction for next season.

His three-point shooting ability addresses a glaring need, as he averaged 6.1 attempts per game from beyond the arc with 39.2% accuracy last season.

Only Jalen Suggs averaged more three-point attempts last season, while just one player shot more accurately from deep, though with significantly fewer attempts.

Bane’s combination of volume and efficiency fills a crucial gap in Orlando’s offensive system.

Magic fans have additional reasons for excitement after Bane indicated he could attempt even more threes than his previous career-high of 8.6 attempts per game.

“Yeah, I think that’s the goal. We’ve been playing and scrimmaging over the last two weeks, and it’s very apparent what they want from me,” Bane explained.

“They want me to shoot threes. They want me to be aggressive, score the ball, and playmake.”

The coaching staff has made their expectations clear about Bane’s role in the offensive system, pushing him to maximize his shooting opportunities.

“So, every time I turn down a shot or they feel like I can get a shot off, they’re letting me know about it. So, I think that I’ll definitely be at career numbers as far as attempts go,” he added.

The Magic need Desmond Bane to help them become stronger competitors in the East

When Bane posted his previous career-high attempts with the Memphis Grizzlies, he maintained strong 38.1% accuracy while producing a career-best 23.7 points per game. His efficiency remained impressive despite increased volume.

If Bane surpasses his career-high three-point attempts, he could potentially break his scoring average as well. Such production would provide immense value for the Magic as they seek a reliable third scorer.

Orlando needs consistent offensive production behind Paulo Banchero and Franz Wagner to compete effectively in the Eastern Conference.

Bane’s expanded role could transform the Magic from a defensively solid team into a legitimate playoff threat.

The four first-round picks represent an expensive investment, but Bane’s shooting ability and willingness to embrace increased volume suggest the Magic may have found the missing piece for their championship puzzle.
