The Minnesota Timberwolves will start their 2025 training camp next week at Mayo Clinic Square, in Minneapolis. It’s a big year for Anthony Edwards & Co.

In a perfect world, the Wolves would have unveiled the best backcourt in basketball this offseason. Instead, after they failed to lure Kevin Durant to Minnesota, Tim Connelly chose to run it back with a big man laden roster featuring Julius Randle, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid playing Robin to Ant’s Batman.

Minnesota Timberwolves unveil KG era throwbacks

On Wednesday, though, the Minnesota Timberwolves unveiled something that might be even better than an Ant + KD backcourt. In 2025, as previously teased and officially announced this morning, the Wolves are bringing the trees back again, in the form of our favorite black Kevin Garnett era uniforms originally worn from 1997 to 2008.

This is one of the first visible moves from the Timberwolves’ new majority ownership group — headed by Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez — and they could not have tipped off the new era any better, unless it was announcing a new arena.

New uniforms come with throwback court too

The black alternate uniforms from the late 90s are, without a doubt, one of the top two or three uniform combinations in the franchise’s 36 year history. The only other comparable uniforms were the original “old Shep” whites with blue numbers, letters and light green accents.

While the race might be close, many would say the ones they are re-debuting in 2025-26 are as good as it gets, especially when you throw in the 2003-04 memories, in which KG, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell lead the Wolves to their first-ever Western Conference Finals appearance.

But wait, it gets better. Target Center will also receive a throwback makeover on nights when the Minnesota Timberwolves wear their throwback uniforms, featuring what looks like the exact same court from those late 90 – early 2000 teams.

If these throwbacks look more recently familiar, it’s because they did these same throwback uniforms one other time in the last decade, back during the 2018-19 season. You may remember Derrick Rose wearing going off for 50 points wearing the No. 25, in black and trees.
