Alabama basketball alum Grant Nelson expected to ink new deal with Nets

  • September 25, 2025

Alabama basketball alum Grant Nelson’s name didn’t appear on the final training camp roster for the Brooklyn Nets.

That doesn’t mean the organization doesn’t see a future with the 6-foot-11 forward that helped the Crimson Tide to Final Four and Elite Eight runs.

According to Nelson’s representatives, another contract is anticipated.

What does Alabama basketball alum Grant Nelson’s future hold with Brooklyn Nets?

Gersh Sports shared with the Tuscaloosa News on Tuesday, Sept. 23, that Nelson is expected to sign another Exhibit 10 deal with the Nets.

Nelson’s representatives didn’t indicate whether or not the Exhibit 10 deal was official.

Fanbo Zeng was signed to an Exhibit 10 deal with Brooklyn on Monday, as expected by a recent report from NetsDaily that the forward would be signed to a training camp deal. The same report called Nelson a “future decision” in that regard.

During the summer league in Las Vegas, Nelson played in all five games for Brooklyn. He averaged six points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 57.9% from the floor and 28.6% from deep. Nelson’s hustle even saw him walk away with a black-eye.

Nelson walked away from his career in Tuscaloosa with 1,907 points and 1,017 rebounds before going undrafted in June.
