Mark Williams had a troubled 2024-25 NBA season with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Charlotte Hornets famously traded Mark Williams to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package around Dalton Knecht.

However, the Lakers rescinded the trade, sending Williams back to the Hornets. Since then, Williams has taken multiple shots at the Purple and Gold.

Now, ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Hornets remained adamant about parting ways with Williams. After all, the organization traded Williams to the Phoenix Suns.

The Hornets seemed in a hurry to trade Williams, likely due to his injury-riddled career with the team.

While the Hornets have succeeded in parting ways with Williams, it seems that the 23-year-old is furious with his former team.

Williams recently reflected on his move to the Suns during the team’s Media Day.

“To be where you’re wanted is always great. So to be here, it’s exciting. Once you traded me the first time, it was only a matter of time before I was gone.

“I just plan on making them regret that decision every time I step on the floor,” Williams said, per Shane Young on X.

In three years with the Hornets, Williams averaged 12.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. If he can average similar numbers for the Suns while staying healthy, the Hornets will undoubtedly regret trading him.

Mark Williams teases what the Phoenix Suns should expect in 2025-26 season

To be honest, Williams needs to let go of his past with the Hornets to truly carve out a better career with the Suns.

Speaking of which, Williams recently teased what the Suns fanbase should expect from him during his debut year with the team.

“I mean, a good one. I wouldn’t be up here, and I don’t think I would have made it this far in my career if I didn’t believe in myself. Yeah, I intend to have a really good season this year,” Williams said.

He added: “I feel like every year my career’s been better than the year before. So, I hope to continue that trend. Just want to play regular-season games more than I have in the past.”

Williams is oozing with excitement ahead of his debut season with the Suns. It will be interesting to see if head coach Jordan Ott can get the best out of him on the hardwood.
