Philadelphia 76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey has worked his tail off to become one of the best players in the league since entering the NBA in 2020. The Sixers selected him with the 21st pick in that draft and he has taken big steps forward in five seasons in the league.

Maxey has won the Most Improved Player in 2024, been named an All-Star that same season, and is widely considered one of the best players the game has currently. As he heads into the 2025-26 season, he will be looking to get his shooting levels back to his normal high efficiency as he is a career 46.1% shooter overall and 38.1% shooter from deep.

ESPN ranked their top 100 players in the NBA heading into the new season with Maxey ranked No. 28 on the list:

Even Maxey’s incandescent smile lost some shine amid the misery of Philadelphia’s lost season, but the guard is unquestionably the player the 76ers will lean on most with both Joel Embiid and Paul George coming off injury-riddled campaigns. One thing to watch: Maxey’s 3-point shooting. It dropped from 43% three years ago to 33% last season.

Training camp begins on Saturday for Maxey and the Sixers as they look to bounce back and move into contention in the Eastern Conference. This is a talented roster–when healthy–and the Sixers will be looking for injury luck as well as chemistry in order to get over the hump in the Eastern Conference.
