There have been several players in the last two decades of NBA history who have been likened to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
First, former Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons was touted as the heir to the throne, then that title shifted to New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson.

The Duke product’s style of play is much more similar to James’ game during the early stages of his career, but unfortunately, injuries have suppressed his potential so far.
Williamson is one of the best players in the league when he’s on the court, averaging 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists last year, but that is a rare sight.
Williamson has missed half of his team’s games in two out of the last three seasons, which many people attribute to his poor physique, but it looks like he is intent on fixing that this season.

The Pelicans held team media day on Tuesday and Williamson stunned fans and reporters with his slimmed down figure and chiseled arms.
Many NBA legends and media members have taken shots at the two-time All-Star for being out of shape, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be able to hold on to those criticisms for much longer.
New Orleans has high hopes with a deeply talented roster, but they know their ultimate success is dependent on Williamson.
The Pelicans have forwards Herb Jones and Trey Murphy III, and rookie center Derik Queen, which appears to be one of the best young cores in the league if Williamson can stay healthy.

He is one of the best finishers in the league, which causes defenses to collapse on him whenever he drives, leading to easy catch-and-shoot opportunities for his teammates.
However, none of those players are considered very good playmakers, so they are forced to play outside of themselves without Williamson on the floor.
He hasn’t been very available during his career, but after a summer of intense workouts and concentration on dieting, he appears determined to make that change this season.
