ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud State University announced a four-year contract extension for men’s basketball head coach Quincy Henderson on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The contract will run through the 2029-30 season. Henderson is entering his fourth season as

St. Cloud State’s

head coach.

“We are excited about the progress that Coach Henderson has made with the program over the last couple of years and his commitment to elevating the program even further,” SCSU Athletic Director Holly Schreiner said. “He is an asset to the team and the department, and we look forward to watching his continued success.”

Said Henderson: “It has been an absolute pleasure to lead the Husky program over the past three years, and I feel both honored and blessed to have the opportunity to continue in this role. The St. Cloud community has been incredibly welcoming to (wife) Lara and me, and we feel strongly connected to this area. I have been fortunate to have a staff that has been with me every step of the way, and they are committed to the success of the program and the student-athletes under our care. We still have much to accomplish.”

After taking over the program in May of 2022, Henderson and the Huskies have improved each season under his direction. The win total for SCSU has increased from 10 wins in his inaugural season to 20 this past year.

Last season, the Huskies went 20-12 and 15-7 mark in conference play to finish tied for third in the NSIC. The Huskies solidified their placement in the conference by going 5-1 over the final six games with a pair of key ranked wins against No. 22 Minot State and No. 23 Winona State at home.

Both the total wins and conference wins were the most for the program since the 2018-19 season.

SCSU opens its season on Friday, Nov. 14, against Northwest Missouri State at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph, Missouri.
