Brandon Ingram began last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, but his future with the team quickly shifted as trade speculation surrounded him. In February, the Toronto Raptors secured Ingram ahead of the trade deadline, sending Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and multiple draft picks, including a first-rounder, to New Orleans in return.
Despite the high-profile move, Ingram never suited up for the Raptors in the regular season due to an ankle injury. According to Josh Lewenberg, Raptors general manager Bobby Webster confirmed that all players are healthy heading into training camp. He also added that Ingram won’t be placed on load management.
The star forward has been sidelined since December 7 with what was described as a severe ankle sprain. Although he was cleared for contact back in July and has reportedly been a “full go” for some time, there have been no signs of restrictions for the preseason.

NBA fans wasted no time poking fun at Ingram’s unusually long absence from a seemingly minor injury. Social media was filled with sarcastic remarks, as many found the situation hard to take seriously.
“Craziest ankle sprain in history of ankle sprains,” a fan joked.
“Worst ankle sprain in NBA history,” another fan added.
“Bro really missed a whole season because of a twisted ankle,” a comment read.
“Ankle sprain that happened last October btw,” one user commented.
“Shit he better be. He had the ”worst” ankle sprain in the history,” a fan wrote.
“Most obvious all star year ever lol,” another fan commented.
Ingram is expected to step directly into the Raptors’ starting lineup. However, there remains uncertainty over how consistently he will appear throughout the season. His health will be the biggest factor for Toronto. While fans may laugh at the long ankle recovery, Toronto’s hopes of competing seriously could hinge on whether Ingram finally stays on the court.
