The Golden State Warriors have their core, for better or worse, moving forward. When healthy, Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and Jimmy Butler look like they can carry a team to the NBA Finals, although their longevity has to be called into question.
All three stars are past their prime, and even though they are still elite, the Warriors have to plan for a post-Curry future.

In an ideal world, the Warriors could make a swing for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and a recent report suggests they could have a chance.

While teams like the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets can put together a better trade package, the Milwaukee Bucks might honor a request to send him to a team ready to win now, and the Warriors fit the bill.
On Monday, the Dallas Mavericks emerged as a possible landing spot after winning the draft lottery. In theory, the Mavericks could send the first pick to the Bucks (as well as matching salary) for the Greek Freak, which would be an offer no one could come close to matching.

However, one insider doesn’t think Dallas has any interest in that.
The Spurs, much like the Mavs, might prefer to add to their young core with the second overall pick rather than juggle the salaries of Giannis, Victor Wembanyama, and De’Aaron Fox. The Rockets, as well, might not want to include Amen Thompson or Reed Sheppard in a deal.
It’s a lot of “what ifs,” but if the Dubs landing Butler and the Los Angeles Lakers landing Luka Doncic taught us anything this offseason, it’s to expect the unexpected.
