Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan will begin his inaugural 2025-2026 season with plenty of offseason momentum after landing more than a dozen players from the transfer portal, led by former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako and Creighton transfer guard Pop Isaacs, who will likely lead the Aggies in several categories this season.

However, Mgbako will take the next two months to recover from foot surgery, but will be back in the thick of non-conference play. Isaacs, who returned to practice in full capacity, is reportedly looking good and ready to begin his final collegiate season with the Aggies.

On the recruiting trail, McMillan gained his first 2026 commit after elite four-star combo guard Neiko Mundey chose Texas A&M over several blue-blood programs, becoming the program’s highest-rated commit since landing guard Manny Obaseki. Mundey is likely just the start of what’s to come, as McMillan and his staff hosted 2026 four-star California-based center Josh Irving this weekend.

McMillan’s fast-paced, high-scoring system relies on big men being able to play inside-out with the ability to shoot mid-range and occasionally beyond the arc. Iriving, who is already an established rebounder, fits the mold of what McMillan needs for his future teams.

Like Luke Evangelist stated, Iriving is one of Texas A&M’s priority prospects, battling with the likes of Kentucky, Louisville, Kansas, and USC, so it will be tough to reel him in. Still, I wouldn’t doubt for McMillan to make another recruiting splash sooner than later.

According to 247Sports, Iriving is currently positioned as the 63rd-ranked prospect, the 5th-ranked center, and the 7th-ranked prospect in California.
